Hot tub use dictated by climate

Climate change is probably the biggest issue that faces modern humanity, influencing every aspect of global culture and industry.  Climate change is the term used to refer to any significant changes in the expected weather patterns over the Earth, although common usage today often refers only to those changes caused by humanity and its industry.  Global warming is a slightly more specific term that refers to the current warming of the Earth’s climate during the last 50 or so years.  The belief of the vast majority of modern scientists is that the current patterns of global warming are due to human influence, and that only human measures can bring a slowing or cessation of its effects.

Climate change effects nations very differently, with wild weather patterns and drought being two key effects seen alongside an overall warming of the atmosphere.  While a slight rise in temperature may not seem like a bad idea to those people living in cold climates, there is much more to global warming than an increased opportunity to go to the beach or sit at home in a hot tub spa.  Climate change is already having effects on glaciation, which will in turn effect the temperature of the oceans all over the world and lead to an eventual rise in the sea levels.  There are many different causes for global warming, including a sharp rise in carbon dioxide emissions and increased worldwide deforestation.

The governments of the developed world seem to be finally dealing with the reality of global warming, although it is debatable whether they are doing enough.  A number of government programs exist which attempt to reduce household waste and offer an incentive to recycle.  Many nations also have a carbon offset scheme in place that measures the environmental effects of industry alongside the economic effects.

Good hot weather may seem like a dream to many people, and a chance to use the hot tubs that have been sitting in their gardens to full effect – but the reality of climate change is far more sinister.  Hopefully the continued and expanded schemes that have been put in place by many governments and industry bodies can help to stall the potentially devastating consequences of global climate change.
